Previous characters make a return and are given some development where relevant to the plot. Since he cannot change the simplistic, constantly sniggering leads he has done the most logical thing he could by surrounding them with a plethora of multi-faceted characters tied together with a conspiracy plot that takes them into other locations where their simple-but-effective double-entendre humour can flourish. But why should it? Mike Judge has managed to fill out the 75 or so minutes well without making it drag, and he's done it with style. If you didn't like the main duo to begin with then this will do nothing to convince you otherwise. These are some of the movie's finer qualities. Young people watching may be encouraged to view more Beavis-Butthead antics in the original short-subject form, which sometimes had animal cruelty and pyromania (less prominent here)."Beavis and Butthead Do America" is filled with vulgar humour, sadistic or otherwise bizarre characters and a convoluted plot insane enough to make no sense.
FBI and authority figures come across as clueless or ineffective. Language is at PG-13 level, mainly with double-entendres and variations on words ending in "-hole." There's cartoon violence, mainly in silly fantasy scenes (an opening with B&B as Starsky and Hutch-level cop heroes). References to homosexuality include the song "Lesbian Seagull." Beavis gets high with both prescription pills and desert peyote cactus. Expect innuendo, about "scoring," and "sluts" and gag imagery of big-breasted women (onscreen sex only happens between consenting birds). Parents need to know that this cartoon-feature spinoff of the Beavis and Butt-head MTV cartoon finds its humor in bad role models - two loutish, ugly, TV-addicted, heavy-metal boys fixated on sex (which they never get to have, though there are plenty of masturbation references), and shallow thrills.
